Kurt Cobain R.I.P.

It's hard to believe it was 10 years ago to the day. I can still remember the first night my brother came home and told me he heard this awesome band while he was out with his friend. "Smells like teen spirit" was the song he heard that night. Shortly after that I was hooked, and so was a whole generation of rebellious youth. Looking back now, they (Nirvana) helped shape a lot of what music I listen to today. It's hard to believe one band can have such an impact, but they did, and they had on a lot of people. There was a time when it seemed like Nirvana bootlegs were the only cd's I would buy. (mp3's didn't exist then kids) I would go to this small local record store, Play it Again, and browse through the bootlegs. Always looking for a song I didn't have yet or some rare release or single that was put out in UK or some other country. Later this store became the source for a majority of my music because FYE, then known as "The Wall" didn't carry the underground punk rock I enjoyed. If they did happen to have it, it would cost me $19. The local record store had them for $12. To this day I still have those bootlegs and listen once in a while. I was lucky enough to get to see Nirvana live, I some how missed my chance to get tickets because it sold out so quick, but this girl I knew in school had an extra one, so I bought it off of her. That was a great show. I remember seeing the lead singer from the opening band (Half Japanese) at the local McDonald's that afternoon. Then on that April afternoon I heard the news and didn't want to believe it. We miss you Kurt.

I agree on all counts. I really miss Lane Staley (spelling?). Why do all the great singers/musicians have to go early. Why can't Fat Joe OD?

It happens too often. Lost a lot of Jazz musicians the same way!
