I finally made it to California for the first time and accomplished something I promised myself I would do one day. See the Golden Gate Bridge. I drove across it at 12 noon on Sunday afternoon. I also went through a self guided tour of Alcatraz Island on Saturday afternoon. Flying for the first time was a fun experience as well. Below are what I feel are some of the best pictures out of the 200+ I took. Please see the link at the bottom if you want to see more.

ALCATRAZ ISLAND

Alcatraz Island- this place was awesome.

Alcatraz Island- a closer look at some of the ruins on the island.

There was a lot opportunities for pictures with cool lighting effects while on the island as you'll see in the next series of pictures.

Possibly my favorite picture of the 200+ that I took.

I honestly forget what section of the prison this shot was taken in, but as I mentioned above, I like the lighting.

Usually when people accidentally get in your shot it's a bad thing, but I really think this guy standing there captures the mood.

The heart and soul of Alcatraz, the cell block. Again, I love the way the light is shining in on this shot.

GOLDEN GATE STATE PARK

This was taken around Golden Gate State Park. There was a golf course near by, which probably explains the extremely green grass.

This was taken from one of the many beach areas within Golden Gate State Park.

This shot doesn't show the Golden Gate Bridge or Alcatraz but I love the photo. This small bridge was leading out to one of the beach areas within the park.
