Slaskifest X

For me and about 1000 other people 07/07/07 was quite a day to remember as we all took part in the 10th annual Slaskifest. If you aren't familiar, Slaskifest is what they call an all day super picnic that was started by a friend of mine. It started out as a summer picnic to get about 20 or so friends together over summer breaks from college. Over the past ten years it has grown tremendously and is just a great time for everyone.

Thanks to Mike and everyone that helps put this together. Seeing so many familiar faces and re-connecting with people I haven't seen in 2 years was great.

This isn't a joke

It's strange how things turn out sometimes. A little over a year ago, and only a few entries back (cause I'm lazy), I made a post about moving back to PA. It was a nice April Fool's joke that worked pretty well on my friends. Well, here I am a year later packing my things and heading back to PA. People have asked if I'm looking forward to it and if I'm excited? I have mixed feelings on it. I'm excited to be moving back closer to friends and family. At the same time though, it's scary because at the moment I don't have any kind of job lined up.

"He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life." -Muhammad Ali

On another note, I had the best birthday party a few weeks back, however my Mac won't read the CDs burned in MS Vista (go figure) so I can't post an pics. I assure you though, there was lots of awesomeness.

Then as luck would have it he was on The Tonight Show tonight and this video came up in conversation. I couldn't stop laughing. I was telling a friend yeasterday almost the exact same thing this guy talks about. See the video below and then my saved aim conversation below. Also check out the trailer of his new movie.

So during my month long hiatus of not posting anything I've become addicted to the game, World of Warcraft. I'm not usually a big fan of games, but a bunch of my friends play as well which makes it fun. Here is a screen capture for your enjoyment.

Walden Pond

I decided to wake up early today and take a trip to Concord, MA. to visit Walden Pond State Reservation. This area is probably best known for its historical value; Henry D. Thoreau lived here at one time. I took some pictures with my new camera. Not the best pictures in the world, as I'm still getting used to the camera.

Home sweet home (April Fools)

After a lot of thought and talking it over with my parents, I've decided that I'm going to pack it up in Massachusetts and move back to Pennsylvania. The high cost of living has become unbearable and being so far from friends and family has been bothersome. So in a few weeks I'll be living with my parents while aggressively pursuing a job in the Philadelphia area. I'm going to miss Massachusetts but I think this is the best thing I can do right now.

St. Patrick's Day

My crazy weekend with the drunken' Irish started on Friday night. I arrived at The Green Briar Irish Pub around 8pm. After a 45 minute wait in line that trailed down the block, I was inside the doors ordering my Guinness. Luckily I had some friends that had started partying earlier in the day and had a table waiting when I arrived. It was a great time and I don't think I've ever seen that much green or freckles in my life.

On Saturday night I was lucky enough to have tickets to a sold out Dropkick Murphy's show at the Avalon in Boston. I got there after the first opening band and made it through the doors just in time to catch The Explosion. This was my third time seeing these guys and they never let me down. I was however kind of bummed that the crowd didn't seem too into them. Dropkick put on an awesome show and even mixed in some cover songs for the crowd, that started with the Rod Stewart hit 'Maggie May', continued with 'Teenage Wasteland' by The Who, and ended with some AC/DC 'T.N.T.'

The weekend also marked the sixth month since I moved here from Central Pennsylvania. It's been a great time so far and it's crazy how fast the time has gone by.

My 2006 GTI

After some careful thought and consideration over the past few weeks I decided to trade in my 2002 GTI 1.8T for a new 2006 MKV GTI. I've only owned it for 3 days and I'm very happy with it so far. It's hard to comment much on it's performance since I'm still in the break in period, but from what I've experienced so far I've been more than happy with it. One thing I can say with out a doubt is that driving at night with HID headlights is a major improvement over regular headlights. I don't think you can fully appreciate these lights until you've driven with them.

Call to Action: Maybe it's Cupid that should be shot?

So it's inevitable that I won't be buying flowers for any sweetheart this year. Which doesn't come as any suprise as I feel like I've been largely ignored by Cupid. This Valentine's Day I am putting out a call to action for all of us hopeless romantics, lets turn the tables on Cupid.

This year Cupid is the one who should be shot.

Did that sound bitter?....it should.

All in a year

2005? Where'd you go? As I look back on this year it's hard to believe it's almost over.

It was about this time last year when I started to evaluate my career and began searching for a new job and briefly considered starting my own business. I've been at my new job for just over 3 months and feel pretty confident (on most days) that I made a good choice and the job is going to work out.
Entry
Entry

I also went to some great punk rock shows over the past year. Come to think of it, I went to alot of great punk rock shows this year. This time last year, I had tickets for Hatebreed the day after Christmas, which was possibly the longest show I've been too that wasn't an actual music festival. It also included a hellish (if hell was ice) trip home from Philly to Harrisburg in icy conditions that I prefer to forget. Just a few weeks ago I bought tickets to see the Dropkick Murphy's in Boston on St. Patrick's Day weekend which is going to be unbelievable.
Entry

Entry (for the above and below)

This time last year I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of my new computer, a Dual 2.0ghz G5 Powermac. (insert manly grunt) I'm making this entry today from that very machine, and have been more than happy with it.

This time last year I was living across the river from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania with some great roommates. Today I'm happily living by myself a short 10 miles outside the city of Boston in Massachusetts, one of my old roommates is dating my sister, and I leave work at 12:30 tomm to travel back to Pennsyvania to visit friends and family for the holiday.
Entry

I think I had one of the best birthday parties ever in 2005 for my 28th Birthday (ouch) that has been dubbed 'Cinco De` Mango.' Hopefully plans will allow for something similar to happen this year.
Entry

2005 was great. It's hard to believe how much has changed, and how quickly the time went by.

Thank you everyone for the memories.

The Music Industry

In a world full of fucking retards, one more has just reared its bulbous head. The Music Publisher's Association (MPA) is launching a campaign in 2006 against websites offering illegal song scores and lyrics. That's right kids, these crazy ass clowns want you to serve jail time for posting guitar tabs or lyrics.

Mr Keiser said he did not just want to shut websites and impose fines, saying if authorities can "throw in some jail time I think we'll be a little more effective".

So let me get this right, cover bands can play other peoples music all night long at a bar, make a decent buck, and that's ok, but some kid who posts song lyrics of bands he likes on the web needs to go to jail?
